Minutes of AGM 15th June 2026
Key points from the AGM:
- Phoenix made a significant loss in the year ended 30th April 2026 – in part from decisions made to tackle essential drainage, in part because bar revenues/profits are down
- The club remains very tight for cash – yet there is a backlog of maintenance work – drains, alarm, shutters, dishwasher in the bar etc
- The budget for 2026/2027 relies on a significant increase in fees from sports sections
- Sports sections can help increase bar revenues/profits by organising social events in the clubhouse, training bar volunteers and encouraging members to make full use of the clubhouse and bar.
- The condition of the grass pitches in winter is a major concern to Lacrosse and Football – yet there is no quick fix
- Destination Padel are progressing towards a planning application for 4 padel courts at Oakwood Farm
- Discussions continue with Wilmslow Sports in relation to joining Phoenix as a Constituent Section and potentially building a 3G pitch at Oakwood Farm (for football and lacrosse).
- The AGM agreed in principle that Phoenix should pursue a path towards incorporation as a company/charity.
