{"id":5,"date":"2017-03-06T13:58:12","date_gmt":"2017-03-06T13:58:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wilmslowphoenix.co.uk\/?page_id=5"},"modified":"2025-11-27T15:10:32","modified_gmt":"2025-11-27T15:10:32","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wilmslowphoenix.co.uk\/?page_id=5","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Our team<\/h1>\n<div>\n<p>The Council of Wilmslow Phoenix Sports Club is made up of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Chair<\/strong>: David Clark<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vice Chair<\/strong>: Chris Hunter<\/li>\n<li><strong>Treasurer<\/strong>: Chris Steiger<\/li>\n<li><strong>Secretary<\/strong>: Jim Garside<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bar Secretary<\/strong>: Rachel Chapman<\/li>\n<li><strong>House Secretary<\/strong>: Guy Phillips<\/li>\n<li><strong>Grounds Secretary<\/strong>: <em>vacant<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Development<\/strong>: Alan Murdoch<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h1>About Wilmslow Phoenix<\/h1>\n<div>\n<p>Wilmslow Phoenix Sports Club (WPSC or Phoenix) is a multi sports club founded in 1975 and situated in the village of Styal serving the Wilmslow, North Cheshire &amp; South Manchester community.<\/p>\n<p>The clubhouse and 17 acres of playing fields are in the green belt opposite the entrance to the National Trust Quarry Bank Mill &amp; Styal Country Park and the site is accessed from Styal Road (B5166) between Wilmslow and Manchester International Airport.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cPhoenix\u201d is home to <strong>Wilmslow Hockey Club<\/strong>, <strong>Wilmslow Lacrosse Club<\/strong>, <strong>Wilmslow Phoenix Astroturf Ltd<\/strong>, <strong>Lindow Cricket Club<\/strong>, <strong>Wilmslow Sports Junior Football Club<\/strong> and <strong>Styal Running Club<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The site includes a <strong>floodlit artificial pitch<\/strong>, <strong>lacrosse<\/strong> pitches, <strong>football<\/strong> pitches, <strong>cricket<\/strong> square and training nets, fitness trail and associated facilities.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>artificial pitch<\/strong> was relaid in 2019 and has a 75 seater spectator stand and LED floodlighting. \u00a0The pitch accommodates a variety of sports including hockey, lacrosse, football and fitness training and is regularly used by local schools and colleges as well as local companies, sports clubs and societies. The artificial pitch is available for private hire to members and non members at attractive rates.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>clubhouse<\/strong> has a fully licensed bar, a\u00a0 full catering kitchen and can accommodate parties of up to 80 persons. The social area is available for birthday parties, christenings, conferences, fundraising events, private hire, etc by members and non members alike.<\/p>\n<p>There are 4 new <strong>changing rooms<\/strong> with showering facilities plus 2 officials changing rooms with private showers.
